Collection: The Crown of the Kondai: Kemp Rakodi & Hair Brooches

In the sacred geometry of Bharatanatyam dressing, the Rakodi holds a place of supreme importance. Sitting majestically at the top of the bun (Kondai), it symbolizes the Sahasrara Chakra (the thousand-petaled lotus). At Golden Collections, we craft Rakodis that serve as the focal point of the dancer's silhouette, radiating brilliance under the stage lights.

More Than Just a Brooch

Unlike standard hair clips, a traditional Rakodi is designed to sit securely amidst the ring of jasmine flowers (Gajra). Our collection features pieces handcrafted in our Secunderabad atelier, using authentic materials:

  • Kemp Rakodi: Traditional designs set with deep red and green Kemp stones, perfect for the classic temple repertoire.
  • Pearl Clusters: Intricate Muthu (Pearl) work that adds a soft, moon-like glow to the hair arrangement.
  • Full & Half Sizes: Whether for a young debutante (Arangetram) or a senior artist, we offer sizes proportional to the dancer's height and bun size.

Often referred to as a "Juda Pin" or "Hair Brooch" in modern parlance, the Rakodi is the finishing touch that transforms a hairstyle into an offering to the divine.
